Liftgate switches come in two basic configurations: 3-wire switches for power-up/gravity-down systems, and 4-wire switches for power-up/power-down systems. Whether you're running a toggle, push-button, or remote-control setup, getting the right wire count is the first step to a correct fit. Switch assemblies mount to the rear frame of the truck and connect either via short leads to an internal wiring harness or an extended cord running to the underbody power unit.
