How do I install a "slip-on" rocker? There are actually many different ways you can install them! The most common way is to slip the new rocker over top of the existing rocker and then attach it using glue, pop rivets, screws, spot welds, or any other method you feel will suffice. We make our slip-on rockers as easy to use as possible, so everyone regardless of skill level, feels comfortable working with and installing them. Slip-on instructions
A 'slip on' rocker panel is made from 22 gauge metal which is galvanized with zinc to prevent rust. When using this panel, you do not have to remove as much of the original sheet metal as with the OE style replacement. They are not as accurate, the metal is not as thick, and they do not curve up the door posts as a stamped steel rocker may. However, they are less expensive, easier to install, and will make the vehicle look good.
One of the most common areas where a vehicle starts to rust is the rocker panel below the doors. Whether it is due to salt being slung from the front tires or stones from the road, the rocker panel takes a beating. Mill Supply has replacement rocker panels for cars, trucks and vans beginning from the 1940's all the way through to the present day. Some of the time you might notice there is more than one choice for your vehicle. Rockers can come just like the original from the factory. You would use this if your car or truck was sagging and there is no more support. They also come in 2 or 4 door, and just to make things more complicated, pickup trucks can have 5 different rockers depending on the cab size. Please contact us if you are not sure which rocker is the correct one. It can be expensive to ship and return the wrong rocker panels. These are much easier to replace and are great for covering up holes and where rust is beginning to become a problem.
Rest assured, when you buy a rust repair panel from Mill Supply, you are going to receive the best there is in the industry.
